Hollis’s Hospital is an Almshouse located at the edge of the historic City of Sheffield, where it meets the beautiful, rolling countryside of the Peak District.
For more than 300 years Hollis’s Hospital has offered homes for local people of modest means and on a low income and has given them an opportunity to enjoy new friendships in a safe, warm and manageable home.
Originally in the heart of Sheffield city centre, it moved to its current Edwardian, purpose built, Grade II listed location in Whirlow in 1903.
Hollis’s Hospital has close ties with the community and residents are often invited to attend events, such as music performances or plays put on by local schools or community groups. Local schools and groups also visit residents occasionally, for example at Christmas to sing carols.
We are regulated by the Charity Commission and we are also members of the Almshouse Association.
Thank you for visiting this website and we very much hope you enjoy learning about Hollis’s Hospital, its history and what it has to offer.
